How Much Pressure to Apply?

Eight to twelve seconds is normally enough time to elicit a therapeutic response in the muscle. Applying too much pressure for too long causes the body to treat the pressure as an intrusion. For maximum results return to the treated area three to four times for eight to twelve seconds.

The Healing ProcessBody Back Buddy
There are several steps to restoring health to dysfunctional muscles. The most immediate step is to eliminate the tightness and hypercontraction in the muscle. This is the purpose of the Body Back Buddy. After the muscle is released, it needs to be stretched and hydrated to return its natural elasticity and pliability. For long-term muscle health and strength, exercise is crucial. Finally, it is important to correct the improper body mechanics and poor posture. Attention to these four areas will build and maintain healthy muscles.

Body Back BuddyCautions
The preceding  treatments involve applying pressure on tight muscles and tension spots. An acupressure chart may be helpful, but only as a guide. Any spot that needs attention and feels better for being treated is the right spot to treat. Trust your senses to locate the right spot. With practice you will become sensitive to areas of blocked energy that need to be treated and released in the body. Remember to stay relaxed. Alter your position any time you feel uncomfortable. Have fun and enjoy!
