Home Stay
I moved to Louisville, Colorado in July of 2006 so that I could work on my masters in Somatic Counseling Psychology at Naropa University. I fell in love with Louisville on my first visit out here. Louisville has an awesome community and I developed community on the two visits I had before I'd even moved. I had new friends bending over backwards to make our transition less cumbersome. People I barely knew offered me their home, closed their shop to help us make our flight back to Madison, and my new yoga teacher's son helped us unpack the truck when I finally got here.
In 2006, Louisville was ranked first in the Best Places to Raise a Family book. In 2007 it was voted 3rd Best Place to Live by Money magazine. (Personally, I think it's the 1st best place to live). Louisville is located about 8 miles South of Boulder, and 25 miles north of Denver. There is a wonderful transit system that easily travels to both places. There's an amazing biking - hiking - riding trail half a block away. Riding stables are less than a mile from us. My home also has modern shopping centers close by and an adorable old town in the opposite direction. My house is about 1.5 miles from each.
And speaking of my home, I love that too. One of the things I love about it, is that there's space to accommodate visitors. I often travel to other cities to attend workshops in yoga, dance, and psychotherapy. I find hotels, not only expensive, but incredibly sterile. I'm much happier when I can find a home away from home. That's why I decided to open my home to kindhearted adults. I should mention that I have two cats, so if you've got allergies, this isn't the right homestay for you. Also, since I have cats, I can't accommodate other pets.
The house is on a small cul-de-sac and is a bi-level home, which means when you come in the house you either go upstairs or downstairs. All the windows have been recently replaced to provide the best insulation possible. In fact, I've spent the last two years making eco-friendly improvements.
The downstairs has bamboo flooring except for the guest room which is cork. The guest room is a treatment/massage room which is converted to a guest room with an air mattress. There is a sitting area in both the upstairs and downstairs with TV's in each. There is also wireless internet in the house.
Because this is my home, I'm careful about who stays with me and my roommate. Most homestays come to us from Naropa, the Guild for Structural Integration, various Yoga Studios and training centers, and by referral from previous homestays. If you'd like to stay with us, please call for a password to access more information about homestaying. If you have the password, please click here. Obviously, current or previous clients and their friends and families are not eligible for homestays.
